Aquí en el polo no hay cómo saber la hora
2019. Brass-plated iron, oak, rope, incandescent bulbs, wiring, Mini Mac and DMX dimmer. (as shown in Laboratorio Arte Alameda).
The work comprises of twelve arcs consistent with time zones of the planet and a parabola of light bulbs that turn on sequentially to simulate the sun's movement across the sky. As seen in the video above, the arcs cast shadows that move slowly across the room, heightening our experience of time.
In an effort to destabilize our structures of time, this work directs our attention to the earth's geographic poles, the two points where all the time zones converge only to fail: standing on either pole, it is impossible to tell time.
